FAQ

Eurovision song quiz, Heardle-style daily & blind test multiplayer

What is Euroguessr?

A free fan-made Eurovision song guessing game. Listen to short clips from ESC entries (2009 to 2026) and guess the song, like a Heardle or music blind test focused on Eurovision. Play the daily challenge, infinite solo mode, or multiplayer in a global lobby or private room.

Is Euroguessr like Heardle?

The daily mode works similarly to Heardle: one song per day, longer clips after wrong guesses, and a single answer to find. Euroguessr adds Eurovision-only catalogues, infinite practice, filters by year/country, and real-time multiplayer blind tests with friends.

Is this official Eurovision?

No. Euroguessr is a fan project and is not affiliated with the Eurovision Song Contest or the EBU. See our Terms of Use for full legal wording.

Who owns the music and artwork?

All audio recordings, compositions, performances, and cover images remain the property of their respective rights holders (artists, labels, publishers, and other rights owners). Euroguessr does not claim to own any song. We provide a quiz interface that plays short preview excerpts so you can try to name the entry. Nothing more.

Where do the audio clips come from?

In almost all cases, clips are short Apple/iTunes store preview files, the same kind of ~30-second previews you can hear when browsing music on Apple’s store. Our server builds a game catalogue using the free, public iTunes Search API (Apple’s documented Store web service). That API is open to everyone and is used only on our server when we refresh catalogue data; your browser never calls iTunes during a game. Playback uses the public preview URL (streamed from Apple’s preview hosts, e.g. audio-ssl.itunes.apple.com), not a full track hosted by us.

If Apple has no preview for a rare entry, we may use a short administrator-provided fallback clip for the same quiz purpose. Details are in the Terms of Use.

Is Euroguessr educational?

The game is designed as informal educational and cultural trivia: recognising Eurovision songs, learning titles, artists, countries, and years through repeated listening. It is not a formal course or licensed curriculum, and it is not a substitute for buying or streaming music legally. We encourage fans to support artists via official releases and platforms.

I represent a rights holder and want content removed

Send a clear notice to euroguessr@gmail.com with the song details (title, artist, year) and proof you can act for the rights holder. We will review valid complaints and remove or disable the relevant catalogue entry as appropriate. Full requirements are in Section 8 of the Terms.

How does the daily challenge work?

Everyone gets the same Eurovision song each UTC day. You hear longer clips on each wrong guess (or skip). A correct guess earns bonus points (×100). You can finish the daily once per day; progress is saved if you leave mid-game.

What is infinite mode?

Endless song quiz rounds with optional filters (years 2009 to 2026, countries). Perfect for blind test practice before party night or after watching ESC.

How does multiplayer work?

Create a private room with a 6-letter code and share the invite link, or join the global lobby for live speed rounds with other fans. Private rooms are currently in beta.

Do I need an account?

You can play as a guest on this device. Create a free account to save progress across devices, appear on leaderboards, and use global chat.

Why is there no sound?

Browsers require a tap to unlock audio. Use the “Play” or “Start playing” button on the game screen first. If a clip still fails, the track may be missing preview audio in our catalog or the preview URL may be temporarily unavailable from Apple’s servers.

How do I set my country flag?

Open Account, pick your country in the profile section. It appears on your public profile and in global chat.
